My publisher has just forwarded a link to your very kind review. Thank you David. Wasn’t expecting much recognition when attempting to connect to non-wine people with a primer guide, but I have be very pleasantly surprised. Best, Tom Stevenson
Tom, I appreciate the effort you put in on this guide, and tip my hat to you for taking a break from your usual lofty perch, high within the competitive world of wine, to introduce more people to wine. Getting people to enjoy wine is the first step, and once they experience the joy of a slower pace of a meal, one paired with great friends/family, good food and conversation, and enjoyable wines, they’ll want to know a little bit more. And then a little bit more.
And that’s the thing about wine – it is a bottomless well of interest and intrigue for the curious mind.

Failla, 2011 Chardonnay, Keefer Ranch. $48
I agree with Antonio Galloni, who writes “This is as good as it gets”. I have a minuscule allocation, so get it while supplies last!
Midsummer Cellars, 2011 Estate Cabernet, Napa $44
From Rollie and Sally Heitz, of the Heitz family pedigree, this is an undiscovered gem from hillside fruit a thousand feet above the valley floor. A miserly 480 cases produced.
